I have a domain controller in another site (alabama) and my primary DC does not have the srv records for alabama DC...they're both DNS servers and th alabama DC has all the srv records for all DC's. How do I make the alabama server update the srv records on my primary DC? Replication between zones is set up properly just that the alabama site has a few issues because of the missing srv records.

Thanks,
Mike

There are 2 possible solutions:

First (and probably best) is to make the forward lookup zone for your domain AD integrated. This way all DC's have R/W copies of the same records and you can secure the dynamic updates. Zone transfers are handled through normal AD replication.

The other possible solution is to make sure that your Alabama DC points to your primary DC for DNS (even if it is as a secondary DNS server). When you stop and restart the netlogon service your alabama server should register it's srv records with your primary.

Thanks alot for the tip...the first one is already implemented (both AD intergrated).

I did the second one...changed the dns IP on the alabama server so the primary dns server points to NY instead of itself....and after restarting netlogon it updated everything.
