DC errors while installing CCM 4.0(2) and 3.3(4)

Does anyone know the solution for DC error while installing CM on generic PC w/hacks? The error I'm getting is "rpc failed" during DC stage 4.0(2). 3.3(4) has different error but at the same DC stage. Tried every possible reg hack and every situation like installing OS upgrades first 2-6 or 2-7, then installing CCM, and installing CCM first without upgrades. Same DC error every time.

tracked the problem to Java VM. Apparently Win2k with sp4 does not have java VM. Ran windows updates for OS and IE. That did not help. Installed Sun Java VM. That did not help. The error log shows CCM cannot find VM. I think it is looking for Microsoft VM. The last I heard Microsft discontinued Java VM. Where can I get Microsoft VM. Thanks.

I ran into the same issue and tried different things and none of them worked. Fianlly, I loaded Win2000 with SP3 instead of SP4 and that solved the problem for me.

Thanks, I will try with SP3. Did you load 3.3 or 4.0?
With just reg hacks and no OS updates?

It works with 3.3(4). However 4.0 still give problems but it does pass DC installation phase. Will have to dig thru logs.
