PC is in a domain and uses Outlook Express for email. PC joins new domain with same user name created on new domain, and now all email is seemingly lost. Have searched hard drive of PC for .dbx files but none exist. I presume that this is a profile issue where a new profile for the new domain has overwritten the old profile that contained the .dbx files. Am I right or am I being an idiot? PS if I am right, what can I do to restore the old profile?

What OS are you using?

If you are using NT / W2K / XP a new user profile will have been created. If using any one the above, trying logging on as a local user (same user name as before), by changing the domain in the drop down to the local PC. Then try accessing the mail box. This will show you where the problem lies - profile or Outlook. I think but am not 100% certain the data for Outlook is held in %systemroot%\Documents and Settings\%username%\application Data\Microsoft.

Hope this helps you find the problem
