Hello everybody,

There was a power cut today at my work and now 2 dbspaces of 2 different databases are down. I don't know exactly what happened because I am on hollidays but our system administrator told me that the server wasn't affected by this power cut only the applications on the client sides. What strange is that I have at least 50 dbspaces and only 2 became down.
When the client side try to connect to these databases the following message appears :

Could not connect to database.
Error : General SQL error
Cannot open system catalog( systables)
ISAM error : Primary and Mirror chunks are bad

We are under informix 7.3... (I don't know exactly the version)
Tomorrow I will go to work to rebuilt the databases in new dbspaces but if someone has an idea on how to recover these 2 dbspaces I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

You may try to change the status of a chunk that is down and see if it can be revived:

onspaces -s <spacename> -p <path> -o <offset> -O

Regards,
Shriyan

Are the drives that house these chunks withen an outboard disk enclosure? If so you may have a disk cabinet plugged into an unprotected power source but your server is plugged into a UPS protected power source.
