Hello,

I have been running a VB6 program that loads a file into a fairly small SQL table...under 100,000 records.

It was working fine until we switched to a new server.

Now after about 60 seconds, the program stops loading the file and I get the message:

Run-time error -2147467259 (80004005)
[Micrsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server
does not exist or access is denied.

It seems like I am loosing my Connection as the program inserts a few thousand records and then gives the error.

Also, the error always happens on the connection object:
objconnCR.Execute (strSql)

Does anyone have any possible answers for this??

Thanks in advance for any information you could provide!

JP

Can you ping the server?
Do you have access to the server (sql login)

The 60 second timeout would be consistent with either of those issues....

My money is on the fact that you can't ping it.

Rob

PS if this is sthe case try adding an entry into the hosts file

(X:\WinOS\system32\drivers\etc)
