I have a HP ML350 server where I ran a migration from an older server to the new ML350 after the Migration all transfered fine but when I brought the server down I got a dbnet loader cannot find public symbol error the Nic card is a 3com 3c985 fiber NIc with the current drivers in the 6.5 sp4 drivers folder. Novell research said to up date the drivers that there was a issue with DBNET6.nlm I cannot upgrade any higher. Looking to see if anyone has come across this problem and is there a fix

Other than this problem, does your server come up and run okay?

DBNET6 is used for making remote coredumps. It's not used for regular server operations. So you could probably delete it and be just fine.

the server works an login with no problems if this is used only for core dump then I can remove the NLM with out any server problems. is there any other issues that will crop up.

In your SYS:System/autoexec.ncf you need to remove or comment out the line
LOAD DBNET6.NLM

Only reason I even know this is because last week I dealt with a client that had a server that was abending every time the server would load. Turns out it was abending on DBNET. We did find some corruption in the NIC configuration (which can affect DBNET)... but rather than troubleshoot it, he opted to just remove it.

Oh, it loads automatically from LOADSTAGE 5, so you can't just take it out of AUTOEXEC. You have to remove the file. It is in SYS:SYSTEM so just go there and rename it to DBNET6.OLD.

Back to your NICS.. what about the driver from SP5?
