DBIV and Access Query Date Field Incompatability?

Has anyone encountered date field incompatability when querying a linked dbIV table?

When I try to enter search parameters for dates on the dbIV-based date field I get the following error message when running the query "reserved error (-5016); there is no message for this error."

I have tried many different formats and statements with the same result. The errors seem to point towards the dbIV table not understanding what the query is asking for.

Any help would be much appreciated,
