dbf tables disappear from ODBC directory

Greetings! I'm having a problem that's been bugging me for a couple of months now.

We have a runtime Visual Foxpro timecard/payroll database (created with VFP version 6.0, I believe) that we're trying to connect to Crystal Reports and Access 2002 through the Microsoft VFP ODBC drivers (6.01.8629.01). The connection is in free table directory form.

In setting up the initial connection I was able to see and query all the tables in the directory I'm targeting. But after exporting a lot of data from the most crucial timecard table and then reindexing it, it "disappeared" from the list of available tables. I had to reinstall the table from backup (with all the old data) to get it to reappear.

The table is a dbf table with an associated cdx file, but no memo file.

Does anyone know what can be going on? The guy who developed the database can't seem to find the problem, and while my Access skills are good, I'm not a VFP developer. This is the crowd that would be able to figure it out, though...

Are there other ways to connect Access 2002 to Visual Foxpro?

Thanks!

Derek
