Ah, well hello everyone.
Iv been greated with this lovely error this morning, distressing to say the least.

Evert dbf recovery program iv tried thus far has been unsucsesfull, i do however have a very recent back up of this file. The only problem being is that the memo file that goes along with this is also corrupt and I do not have a back up of that.
I used a program called kernal dbf, and it is able to open the backed up dbf but it is a demo and will not allow me to save the file out unless I purchase it for $100.00.

Anyone have a magic wand for this? :)

Sadly yours,
-Steve

Does that memo file contain lots of info?
Because even corrupt memo file generally can be open with a text editor, and the information there is readable and can be retrieved. But if it is a big file, you will have a hard time putting all the bits and pieces where they belong.

Are you sure your memo file is actually corrupt or it just doesn't match your .DBF backup?

I would suggest you look up topics in Help called "Table File Structure" and "Memo File Structure". Then make copies of your corrupt files and open them with some Hex editor - see if you can fix the headers so the files would open again. Got to say, I didn't have to do that for many, many years - but have occasionally done something similar in Clipper Summer'87 under DOS.

You could try these:
They are also listed on the links page of this forum. They are self explanatory and above all, free. Some kind Tek-Tips user pointed me towards these many years ago which I added to our downloads page, maybe that will help.

Good luck
