So I have been reading through many of the articles in this forum, and I haven't been able to tell the answer to this question, so I'll state it clearly?

Does dbdefrag -v -L arcserve;admin;secret do what its supposed to?

Does it pack the database? This is for (primarily) Arcserve 2000.

I've been wondering the exact same thing. Read that it has worked for some users and it has not for others. Going to try it this week-end. Let you know if it's going to work or not. The reason for scheduling it on a week-end is I heard that it takes days to complete.

The dbdefrag did not work over the week-end. It was scheduled to kick off on Sat but recieved an error unable to login to the database. Realized this coming in this morning. There was a database corruption on Friday night. I lost patience with this software and just did the recommended option from the other users. I just re-initialized it. Merged the last Full backup tape back into the database. Maybe one day I'll try the dbdefrag.

Doesn't work on any of our 10 or so ARCserve servers, I just initialise the database once in a while - would be a lot nicer to be able to automate packing though.
