Hello Fellow Programmers/IT Professionals...
I have a question and I would love it if I have some recommendations..
I am a clipper programmer and I have used vdb7.0 and vfp6.0 (but not alot). I am evantually moving away from clipper (I have too, if I don't then I would stay), but, I don't know which route to take.
I develop applications for small business (upto 20 users) and little web stuff.

Give me your feedback please...

You have to separate both worlds: Delphi is not a datacenter thing, and VFP is. Delphi is a general purpose development system, and VFP is not. On databases, VFP shines, on other arenas, it does not.
There is not a better DB engine than VFP's, the world's fastest - even 5 times faster than SQL Server. Interbase engine is good, but it is not as fast as VFP - we've tested it several times.
If you do data, go with VFP. If you do GP apps and eventually data, go with Delphi.
My 2 cents...

Hi,

First dbase is now owned by dbase inc, and not borland. There new db2k is by far the best better than both Vfp and VB, and even Delhpi, (Both delphi and VB in my opinion are all purpose languages). db2k offers Full OODML, two way tools, full object inheritance. Very fast, and the ablity to access many backend serv ers like SQL, Interbase, IBM Db2, Progress, etc.

Check their site out.
alse there is great user support at teir news groups
