How do I prevent this too freqent error message in a dbaseiii program that is 15 years old?

In the old days (ie. DOS) you'd change the config.sys file to increase the FILES=## line to a larger number. For example if the line read FILES=15, one would change it to something like FILES=99.

I'm running Win2K and found my config.sys file empty. In this case I'd edit that file to read:

FILES=50
BUFFERS=50

then re-boot and run the application again.

Indicating which operating system you're running will likely get you some better answers (from people way smarter than me)..........

Hi,
I did dB3+ coding in the past.
As far as I remember it is impossible, using dB3+, to have more than 5 files open at same time. Even with a modified config.sys as suggested by 1OldFoxman
