dBase IV database not indexed

I'm working with this legacy software for a client, the problem is I don't understand why the index is dropped after closing the database.

Is it a bug? NO It's not a bug
How can I prevent that? I just discover when i open the file i need to set the order
use facnum order clave

The SEEK command requires an index to be active. Yes, if you close the table and reopen it then you also need to specify the index if you want to use SEEK again.
