I have 20 XP computers running dBase 5 from a Novell server. One of the users attempted to start a second dBase window on their XP system and dBase wouldn't start. They shutdown the first dBase window and now can't get dBase to start at all on this one system. There wasn't an error message. Just a black screen with the drive letter showing. All the other systems are working fine.
When attempting to start dBase I can see this computer accesses the file dbase.exe on the server then briefly opens dbase1.res then closes it. If I view the folder that dBase resides on in the server there is a file username.acc that has been created.
Since all the other systems are working as usual the problem must be with this one computer.
Any ideas?
