We just upgraded our systems from windows 95 to windows 2k machines and since the upgrade ive noticed some minor problems with dbase3.

1) dbase3 seems to lock up while moving through the data fields too fast. ??

2) when printing there is now a 15-20 second delay before it starts to print anything. After the entire list is scrolled of what has been printed out then dbase3 locks up again.

Whenever these lockups occur I have to ctrl+alt+delete and end task my dbase3 program and then restart it.... It is a complete inconvenience. Does anyone know if there are any type of patches or anything that can relieve the problems??? please let me know I'm desperate to find a solution. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the makers of dBase III have long since gone out of business so there are no patches to be had. Additionally, since W2K all but eliminated the DOS environment that dBase was designed to run in, it's a wonder that you can get it to run at all!

I suggest that you do one of the following:

a. make one machine a Win98 system and put dBase on it.
b. make your W2K machine a "dual-boot" system and place dBase in the partition that has the W98 (or W95) operating system.
c. migrate your data files to MS Access (or some other 32 bit application)

Good luck!

There's always a better way...
