Does anyone have a fix for this problem: After a restart of my server, DBA studio hangs at its splash window. After I kill the jrew process, it sarts immediately until the computer is rebooted. There no error messages on install, and once the process is killed the first time, it works fine afterwards.

Two things from Metalinks ( , the second item solved my problem with this issue:

Set the TNS_ADMIN variable in the registry to point to the directory where your networking configuration files reside
(c:\ORACLE_HOME\network\admin\). Be sure to include the trailing backslash (\).

Add the TNS_ADMIN environment variable to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME<n> key.

1. Enter regedit.
2. Drill down to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE key.
You will notice subkeys named HOME0, HOME1, HOME2 ... These keys
contain information specific to each Oracle installation
(ORACLE_HOME) on the machine.

Select each of these in turn, noting the path of the ORACLE_HOME
variable. When you find the HOME key of the Oracle installation
for which you would like the variable set, add the TNS_ADMIN
variable.

REGEDIT -
Select Edit > New > Sting Value. Enter TNS_ADMIN
Double-click on TNS_ADMIN and enter the path to the TNS files.

REGEDT32 -
Select Edit > Add Value
Enter TNS_ADMIN. Keep the default Data type of REG_SZ > OK
Enter the path to the TNS files.
OK

(ALWAYS make a backup of the registry before changing ANYTHING)

This technique took care of my issues with DBA Studio hanging....

When the Oracle Client is installed, a service called the OracleOraHome81ClientCache is created in the MS Services. The default setting
for this Oracle service is Stopped and Manual. After changing this to Automatic and Start, then rebooting the device, I found the "ghost"
problem does not occur.
cause: OracleOraHome81ClientCache service is not started.
