we are using IBM db2 7.2 with fixpack 9. The server is dual processor and UDB showing only one Can you pls advice me how i can upgrade this. I used db2licm command but it is giving some policy error. Pls advice

SQL8017W The number of processors on this machine exceeds the defined
entitlement of "1" for the product "DB2 Enterprise Edition". The number of
processors on this machine is "2". You should purchase additional processor
entitlements from your IBM representative or authorized dealer and update your
license using the License Center or the db2licm command line utility. For more
information on updating processor licenses, refer to the Quick Beginnings
manual for your platform. For more information on the db2licm utility, refer
to the DB2 Command Reference.

Can you send me the output of db2licm -l?
Also send me the db2licm command that you executed.

This is not the technical error, it's just an informational message. If you read the message carefully then you will come to know.

The DB2 product which you have got the license of using 1 processor and your O.S. has got 2 processor.

So, you can just ignore it and go ahead.

You can add the number of cpu's like this.

./db2licm -n DB2UDBEE 2

You should run the command as root.

In the above example 2 - is the number of cpu's

Thanks

I think it is not a question of just updating (Even if you do not update, the perfromance is not going to suffer) .. But I assume it may not be legal to use the software on a processor you have not paid for ...

Cheers
