Does anyone have any idea whether there is a performance difference in DB2 between coding 2 separate joins (>= & <=) or just using a BETWEEN join?

If so which is faster?

A guy I work with went to a DB2 performance workshop and the instructor there told him the BETWEEN was better. So, saying WHERE start_dt between '2001-10-31' and '2002-02-28' is faster than saying WHERE start_dt > '2001-10-30' and start_dt < '2002-03-01'.
