db2 initialize tape on \\.\tape 0 fails

Hi folks:

About more than a week ago i wrote questin about how to mount a tape in db2 v7 used:

db2 initialize tape on \\.\tape0 using 4096

message:

general tape failure

Tape drive works because besides of db2 i am using ca brighstore backup so ...

what´s the problem here in db2 ??

please help
