I'd say this is not possible, since on z/OS patches are applied and not fixpaks(collection of patches).
So with patches you can choose single patches needed and apply only those - the version will not change then.
But if you find out I would like to learn too, since when moving from one catalog to another with some tools this can be tricky when different patches have been applied (SQL -805).
A really hard way to find differences could be checking the compilation timestamp of packages ...
I have learned some things since my initial post...
In the DB2 Commands panel (13 OS/390 User/DB /7 DB2 Commands) -Display Group (-DIS GROUP) will give you the IBM VRM (Version/Release/Modification) of DB2. In my case, the DB2 LVL was 710: Version 7, Release 1, Modification 0.
IBM updates are provided in RSUs (Recommended Service Upgrades) and PUTs (Program Update Tape)
DB2 is made up of several load modules; each load module can be at its own PUT level.
A way to get a GENERAL ideal as where you are is to look at the PUT levels of the SOURCEID for the SMP/E target zone for the DB2 Global CSI
For Entry Name of GLOBAL; Entry Type: GZONE my target zone was DB2T300
Looking at a listing for the SOURCEID for target zone DB2T300 shows all the PUTs that have been applied.
This is a general list only. Advice given to me was to "back-up" 2 or 3 PUTs as to where to start when ordering PUTs from IBM.
