Hi I added a parameter to the spfile and for some reason added it a second time forgetting I already added the parameter. Now the database won't start. It also won't let me clear the parameter telling me that Oracle isn't available. Dang. How can I get this started enough to change the spfile or do I need to create it all over again from a pfile?

ORA-16025: parameter contains repeated or conflicting attributes

ahhh!! Why would it let me alter system a second time with the same value???

You may need to re-start from init.ora file and create the spfile. [smarty]

ie startup pfile=/path/to/your/edited/pfile and then issue a create spfile from /path/to/your/edited/pfile I guess.
