I have an interesting problem, and I wonder if anyone else has had the same effect: I created a FE/BE database at home in Access 2000 under Win 2000, with the latest versions of Jet and of the service packs. It ran well on my machine and on my client's network, where the Front-ends all ran on Windows XP machines with Access 2002 (10.2627.2625), and the Back-end was on a Windows NT server.
About a month ago, I started working from a different location, and re-compiled the FE on a Windows XP machine with Access 2003. Everything functioned beautifully, except that a week later my client began complaining that the system seemed to have slowed down. I did some tests, and, yes, the system was slower on my new work environment as well. After a lot of trial and error (and no improvements), I tried re-compiling the FE at home. Now it runs 3 times faster at my new location.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem, and are there any links that can provide me with some more clues to ways of solving the problem?
