Dear All,

I am not an expert of postgres.

I have a quite difficult problem:
after using a script for "backup" and a script for "reload" my postgres-db don´t show the original contents anymore.
Nothing. All data seem to be lost. The local directory where the db lies is named "3640400". In "3640400" there are now only files without extension and named like numbers, i.e. "20777", "20803". This files should contain my db. But they contain maybe the damaged version of it. Or maybe just some files are missing.

What I have done to date:

- I tried a physical recovery of the files of the db before the problem occurred with the program "easy recover". I succeed in recovering the data, but no idea how such a program works. The list of the files I recovered differs only by 3 files compared to the list of files in

These 3 files are:
1255 (apprently a DAT file but without extention)
pg_internal.init
PG_VERSION

Easy recover just put them in the same recovery folder.
I suppose I have to put in a different order in order to really recover my db.

my question:
1) is it possible to recover a damaged db and its structure only "by files"
2) which files are involved and where?

thank you VERY MUCH for any help.

I can provide more info later.

See you, Alex
