DB Loss on calls forwarded off premises

The phone install/v-mail(V 4.1 Star Talk Flash) setup etc. was a challenge. Then we got the call forwarding to external cell phone/home phones working. However, Volume drops to 'in the mud' level when outside forwarding.

I've had our vendor and telephone service company out 4 times! Two of which were simultaneous. Today they made a small improvement then left saying they've done all they could do. The vendor is quite expensive hourly!! He said
"I can't say we fixed the problem even though there was a small improvment."

Any one ever have a volume problem???

you are conferencing two lines when doing this and there will be a loss in volume. You can try adjusting the loss package. Loss Package lets you select the appropriate loss/gain and impedance settings for each line. The setting is based on the distance between the ICS and the terminating switch, and the terminating switch type. The following table shows the available settings.

A loss of 4 dB corresponds to a cable length of approx.
settings: ShortCO, MediumCO, LongCO,ShortPBX or LongPBX.

Nortel came out with new trunk cards labeled as Global cards last year and are supposed to improve the volume when conferencing, some will say it makes no difference and others makes a difference but that all depends on a lot of everything but worth a shot for you to at least try.

Note:
These cards will only go into a MICS or CICS type KSU system so if you have any info on what system you have then post.
