I'm trying to share a database file that I've been working on with a co-worker. I'm not too concerned about security since it's just he and I working on it. I have no problems opening the files on my computer, but I burned the database file to a disc to pass on to him and when I try to open it from the disc, it keeps telling me that the db is read-only. I don't understand why. I've tried changing permissions, creating a new user and setting passwords, etc but nothing seems to work. I get the same problem on other older databases that I know for sure I've never even touched the security stuff on. Is it just some setting on my computer or in Access that I'm overlooking? I really need to get him a copy of the db that he will be able to update. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance,
gwenn

Anything burned to a cd goes read-only. Copy it off and change the access privileges back.

When opening a database, a [databasename].ldb file is created in the directory that the database is stored. If the database is in a directory that does not allow the user to write to it (such as your cd), you will only be able to open the database as read-only
