Hello I am using crystal reports version 8 and I have 2 issues. 1st issue. I created a view to convert number to true date and it works however, when I try and run the report I get the conversion of data type char resulted in an out of range...... Not sure why I am getting this error.

Second problem is I have a listing of days and there associated month and year (11/20/92). I need to take all the days for whatever month it is and group it into a month so all I would be left with is January, February, March of whatever year it is. How do I do this. Thanks very much

Issue 1:

Have you done a verify database? The datebase info is stored in Crystal and needs to be refreshed.

Menu: Database->Verify Database

Issue 2:

Create a group (Menu: Insert->Group) using your newly created (and database verified) date. You'll see a choice in there as "The section will be printed", select "For Each Month".

Now you can insert sums, max, min, etc., using summaries or running totals, into that group footer.

You can convert the number to date within CR, using a formula listed in faq149-243. You might need and IF statement to check to make sure the number isn't 0 before you convert it. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
