I have a windows 2003 network. My workstations get the time from my DC. Is it necessary to still install the patches on the workstations or do you know if it will be ok to just do the updates for day light savings on the servers?
There is a big misconception between obtaining the time and obtaining timezone information. A DC only syncs a client's clock. If you don't apply the patches to all clients/servers, what will happen is come March 11th all your clients will be reporting in a different timezone.
As an example if I am on the west coast and I obtain my time services from a DC on the east coast, does your clock automatically go back 3 hours?
Hope this helps
All XP clients need the KB931836 patch. By default this will be automatically downloaded and installed if the client is set for AutoUpdate. The patch was released during the first week or so of Feb.
