I have an application where during the "day" as defined by Time Profile, I'd like a group of phones to be somewhat restricted - no toll calls. Outside of the "day" hours, I'd like the phones to be extremely restricted - not being able to dial ANYTHING (no extensions, no voicemail etc). The only dialing paramater that appears to have an assignable time profile is Least Cost Routing. I have a backup plan that uses voicemail pro - but it sure could burn up my VMPro ports... Any ideas?

Create a set of user restrictions to avoid the toll-free numbers during normal operation.
Create a LCR which allows them to call normally during the day. Create a second LCR profile (incl. a 'night' time profile) which prevents calls being made att all.

If you want to give specific users the option to make calls anyway, create a speciale code in this LCR or make an alt. route 1 and set those users priority to e.g. 4.

good luck, you shouldn't need VMPro.

Mike, just make sure you do not restrict 911 from being callable from any phone at any time.

Thanks for the feedback. The challenge seems to be making the time restrictions apply to intercom calls. While I can apply the time restrictions in LCR, I have only been successful making it apply to outbound CO/trunk calls.

Why would you want to restrict intercom calls??

Only way I can think of is to set those extensions to forced login with an idle timeout. Then add the following user shortcode to NoUser (assuming extensions starting with 4 for instance):

SC: 4N
F: Busy

It won't work on a set schedule, but once whoever is legitimately using that phone leaves for the day, after a while their phone will timeout and revert to NoUser which should then block attempts to dial anything starting with a 4. Obviously you would modify for your dialplan, and add extra entries if needed.

Here's why:

They are 2500 sets in student dorm rooms at a private boarding school. They have study hall from 3:30 to 7:30 every day, then "lights out" at 10:00. They'd like the phones to be effectively dead during those times. Don't want ANY unnecessary distractions. So the "no user" thing won't work - good idea though.

Happy day

You might be able to creat somthing using forwared unconditional & DND exceptions but I suspect not.

Unless someone can come up with somthing realy sneaky it looks like another feature request for avaya.

Sneaky eh? Well, if you really want to get down and dirty...

How about engineering a simple circuit consisting of a number of relays and a simple toggle switch located at the office or a supervisors residence. They could manually kill all phones wired through the relays with the flick of a switch.

One caveat - make SURE there is some method of signalling for emergency services like a single live phone in the hallway that is programmed to only allow 911 day and night.
