Virt! You're unbelievable!
Do you actually take the time to read (& absorb!) the answers we give you on these treads?
This is 2.2MB swf! One picture basicly! Took me 5 minutes, connected at 45,33 bps to get to see the half-naked (it's just to entice you Dave!) women - who is she by the way? Daisy? Which reminds me... Melocco has been mysteriously silent for a couple of days! - and another 5 minutes to get to see inoperative buttons! No music! Nothin' else!
I wouldn't worry right now as how to put this fullscreen, it's almost there anyways, 'cause nobody going to wait that long to end up with something like this. Do you have some idea of where you're going? Drop the hi-res stuff and get somethin' going here! Start by learning Flash before you get into "sophisticated stuff" with Dreamweaver! Start by reading my last post in your other last thread!

Sorry to be so harsh (no play on words intented!), and I would really like to help you out... But I'm completely loss here!

Hi!Hi!Hi!Hi!...

This one takes me a minute to load!

Hey Dave! What's the trick to get the preloader to load the sound movie, loaded on the 1st frame of the main movie, as well as the main movie itself? Talking Flash 4 here!

Family birthday, today! Won't be back before late tonight!

Is the sound loaded as a separate swf?

ps:
I'd better let everyone know that I'm on a friends PC because I had a major crash last night after an e-mail request from a Flash newbie. Probable cause: two many infinitely looping actions or something similar. Result: I've had to reformat my computer. Hence my own computer is mushed-bananas right now, and hence my coming in here to let everyone know that I ain't going to visit for a few days, so if you don't get an e-mail reply I ain't ignoring you I'm just reinstalling all my backup-cd's. Can I PLEASE ask newbies to test their movies BEFORE sending them to us.

ok old man...yes i do read and absorb all of your post..somethings are hard to understand untill i actually do it but nevertheless i do get it after a while..what i do not understand is why can i not load two hi-res jpegs into flash and get a decent download time out of them. i love the work u guys do in flash, but i do not want to be like everyone else.. i want my hi-res images to be my mark on the web..i want my graphics to stand out from the norm..the buttons were inactive because i never set actions to them. i was just trying to show the kid some things and let him tell me what he wanted..the music i was scared to add to the file in fear that you guys would give up on the download..why are the files so big..i don't get it..i've seen plenty of flash sites that are full of graphics and they load fine..what am i doing wrong..and yes old i had plenty of ideas of where i was going with that site..it was no where near completed..and you made the comment "no one is going to wait that long to end up with something like this"...cmon old are my graphics so horrible?..would this or any other site i do compare to something by you or dave..of course not..but i am learning..i have been a chef for ten years now..decided to go back to school to change occupations..this is what i want to do..i love art and have fallen in love with these programs and the web..i have a total of about 7 months invested in these programs..before that i never even new what photoshop was..nevertheless i have invested every waking hour that i'm not at work or with the kids to figure this out..i think in the short time invested that i am doing very well..about another year to go in school..by then i will be ready..please don't get frustrated with the things i do wrong..i need you guys help and if you get frustrated with me being stupid then you might tend to fray away from my post..i like the start stop music button you added to that..lol..can you send me the fla.so i can see how you did that :) ....the only reason i publisehed that incomplete was si could figure out the full screen thing..you see i think my problem is is that i'm learning about five or six programs at once..i have lots of ideas of what i want to do but nothing is getting completed because i'm learning so much on a daily basis that i loose track..but eventually old man, hopefully with your help i will get some stuff completed..

Virt! I'm coming back with an answer to you shortly!

This crash? On an infinite loop my Flash halters the movie as a protective measure! Doesn't your's?

ok I've read the post now (sob-sob)....brings a tear to a glass-eye!

I say: "good on you young man"

If only the world were more adapted to career changes it would be a happier place and not have so many frustrated chefs and design-engineers waiting for their "falling-down" moment!!

I know what you're talking about, been there myself, you've just gotta hang in there for the break. And I do believe that Macromedia products should come with an addiction warning on the packet!

old

not coarse humour at all, actually in a very good mood now that I managed to get the pc up-and-going again.

RE: the crash >>> I blame the dodgy file becasue it was the last thing I was doing. Didn't check the actionscripting beforehand. As you know, I've only recently given the pc a good-ole clean out after a major blowout so I can't think of any other source for the problem.

goof party?

Virt! Sorry if you think I was putting you down! On the contrary, I admire your guts! So much so that I haven't put any of my personal stuff up yet in fear of criticism. I don't know where you and others get the idea that I've done marvelous stuff as Dave has! I repeat, I haven't!
Another thing that sometimes goes against me... Is that my French mind, thoughts and choice of words desn't allways translate well in English, and you may end up misinterpreting what I really ment. I'm not satisfied with this last sentence for example, but that's the best I can do, hope you understood it!

Just reloaded your file (another 10 minutes) to compare it to mine. You should do the same in two different browser windows to be able to compare them.
You're asking why a download so long in your case and insist in keeping the best quality! As I mentioned earlier, when I grabbed my duplicate of your picture on your site it was 2.25MB in size! Ran it through Photoshop and outputed it as a 156KB gif. That's a tremedous difference in size and if mine is a little less in quality (don't forget I wasn't working with the original but with a grab of your's) the difference certainly does not justify 9 extra minutes in download time. So yes you should allways try to maintain the highest quality but do you really see a difference here and is it worth the extra download time? Pictures & sound are the elements that add the most in bytes to your movies? So you'll have to find compromises! If Dave, in his gallery was using pictures, at your sizes and resolution, it would take ages to download!

Hope this is a little clearer, and that it will make you feel better!

PS: You're not the only one getting rough answers! "Buy Flash 5"!... Thanks Dave! I allready have it! And I did find the answer to my question... Going back to it as soon as I leave here!

hey old, how about that start/stop music button? a fla would be appreciated.

Nothin' a star can't fix!
But I'm actually trying to correct this, cause as it stands now, the music isn't loaded in the preloader, so the music has to load when the movie starts thus delaying it's start which I don't want. Remember this problem only happens on first pass. Once the movies(the sound one & the main one) are in your computer's cache, this problem dissapear!
Empty your computer's cache(IE->Tools->Internet Options->Delete Temporary Internet Files) to see what I mean. On the first load, the music start is delayed until it has loaded long after the picture.

As soon as I repair this... I'll make the fla available to you with pleasure! Might be only in the mornin'!
