ok guys goto
see the live chat how it opens up...well i was going to open it up in the frame in the center but unfortunatly looks like crap at 800/600...so what i want to do now is open this live chat in a pop up that can not be resized...whatever i set it at i want that to be it...no resizing...can one of you guys help...i have never really dealt with pop ups before...followed jeff's tutorial in the faq but to no satisfaction...i'm thinking it has something to do with the way the script calls the files that control the chat(javasript by the way)...to call the file it uses a chat.pl...the chat.pl seems to be calling a login.html and success_register.html which in turn starts the script...now to get the files to open up correctly in the frame i had to go in and change the login and success_reg.html files replacing target=_blank with target=mainsite which is what the frame label is at promaintenance...all that went well got it to load fine...just didn't look right at 800/600...so now instead of opening it up in a _blank or _parent window i really need to get this in a say 400/400 pop up so the user will still be able to see the site underneath while there chating...you know what i'm saying?...

not going any further till i get this done..but i can't seem to get it..

thanks in advance..

Your popup seems to be workin' fine! What's the problem? Do ya only want it to be non resizable?

old i have no idea what you are looking at but didn't work for me...plus i put it back in the frame for now..so if when you click on live chat and it opens up in a pop up i'm giving up on this web design thing altogether...because right now i have the actions set to open up the chat in the "mainsite" frame...i will be back after work if ya wana give me a hand at getting this going i would appreciate it..

I see your problem Virt. You are opening a perl script which requires a "get" or "post" function. I have had this same problem in the past and have had to open another movie in the popup box then call the perl script from there.

Actually...try this:

instead of opening your direct script in the popup box...open another movie. This other movie would have a button with the getURL action tied to the actual perl script and the "get" or "post" function.

Am I making any sense at all? Ya' Gotta Love It!

Hey my friend!

This should work in any resolution, it's based on the user's resolution. It reduces the size of the popup and centers it... Well almost centers it! Got to know if you would eventually need those scrollbars! If not, the popup should be shifted another 10 pixels from the left!

I'd change that yellowish text color... Doesn't look very good IMHO! No offense!

ok old but this is my thinking on this..wether the user be at 800/600 or whatever, when they click on the button that will call the script i want it to open in a small pop up that will still leave room for the site to be seen underneath...i guess i should have made that more clear...i'm thinking about 400/300 or something like that..and i want it to where they cannot resize it...although they are clicking on a link...i want them to always know the site is right there underneath them...you know what i mean?..i can go in later and tell the script to open at 100% and set the margins to make the scroll go away...i want this to open in a small pop up and not be re-scaled...shouldnt have to be if i can get it the right size...

Listen man, this pop up can be be the size you want it to be, that's easy enough, but that chat will never fit in a 300 x 300 window. So then what?
I thought opening it this size still left enough room to see the site under it, no matter what the user's resolution!
I could make it a little bit smaller but then so could you!
Also it ain't resizable at the moment so I don't know what you mean by: and i want it to where they cannot resize it.
Did you mean that you couldn't move it around. That's impossible with NS!
And where should this 300 X 300 pop up appear? In the top left corner?
You do have peculiar tastes my friend!

I'm off to bed!
