hi

i have implemented a simple dating service at
problem is it's currently handled manually by entering new applications into the database using phpmyadmin - anyone got any ideas on how to authenticate submissions that are made via a form to ensure the service isn't spammed?

the service is here - currently (due to an unfortunate accident) there's a missing MySQL table

I would consider limiting how many submissions per time period from a specific IP. Yes, IPs can be spoofed, and if someone wants to spam you, they can and will. However, you can slow them down.

well, you can have "enter the text, as it appears in the image".

eg. make a random string, then use image functions to generate a temp picture with that string. you then compare the user input to the random string, almost like a password.

you could also, in addittion to this, send some kind of activation email to the user.
