DateStamp/DateModified Problem

I have created a dateModified field to a table & onto the form.
I created a macro ..action: Setvalue ; Item: datemodified
expression : Now() & used the BeforeUpdate event.
However the date only appears when a new record is added & not when a field is edited. Pls help!

If you are not already doing so, try using the Before Update event of the Form or Sub Form, not the Control, this will ensure that if any Record is modified in the Form or Sub Form, the Date will be Updated.

Still does not work. I have tried various ways eg BeforeUpdate & After but continue to insert a date on new record.
