On arcserve2 using a FASTORE DLT Tape drive with 7 tapes the dates on the tapes after everay day's backup are not
changing. What is wrong

Use tapetest as a pre command to erase the tape prior to backup. See How to erase tapes from a command line? faq478-4407 for details.

Hi Andre,

Most likely the tapes were formatted instead of erased. The difference is that during formatting a tape label is required. In your case, dates were probably given as labels. The label does not change unless you do a Quick Erase Plus. Hope this helps.

If you are wanting to format and have the name change make sure there is an * for the media name on the destination tab of your job.
