I have a date in a cell that says 10/31/2010 16:38 PM from a database. How to format the date so that it will only have the date and not the extra stuff.

Select the date cell(s) and FORMAT as desired via Format > Cells > Date

If you need only visual formatting, format the cell as pure date.
To remove fractional part of date/time, select cells you want to change. In find/replace dialog: set " *" to find (no quotes), nothing to replace.

combo,

Can you tell anything about why that find/replace method works. I guess what I'm asking is, what are you finding with looking for the asterisk? Thanks for any info there.

SPACE ASTERISK since Date Time TEXT is... well er uh DateValue SPACE TimeValue

Okay, so the Asterisk can be used as a wild card in find/replace? That's something I did not know for sure. I always thought the find/replace tool was strictly a 100% text tool... meaning it wouldn't' recognize any sort of wild cards.
