Dates Horizonally Across Report

Is a cross tab query the only way I can make my months go across my report along with the data? I never seem to be able to make them work. Here is what I am trying to do.

Jan Feb Mar April May
Activity 1 10 15 2 9 19
Activity 2 8 4 9 10 20
Activity 3 16 12 10 4 17

Currently, this is how it looks:
Jan
act 1
act 2
act 3

Feb
Act 1
Act 2
Act 3

A crosstab query will produce these results for you. Create a new query using the Query Wizard. There is an option for a CrossTab query wizard. Select it and follow the prompts. It is pretty intuitive and you should be able to create just the look that you wish.
