Hi,

I have a problem that seems so simple i'm almost embarrassed to ask the question. But when I'm about to enter the database parameter Date/Time in my reports i do not get the format mask any longer and Crystal tells me that parameter 3 is invalid. I have tried changing all possible options concerning Date and Date/Time but it won't work. It does work for my colleauge next to me who has the exact same settings and it's driving me mad.

I'm running against SQL Server 2000 with Crystal Reports 6.0

Anyone got an idea what might be wrong?

Hi,

You've probably considered this but is there a variance in local settings between the two PC's? If you had specified a long or short date default format and one PC matched that format but the other varied this might explain why it appeared to work on one but not the other.

If you haven't already, make the date format explicit and this may remedy the issue.

Cheers

No, i've allready checked that and she's got the same regional and date settings as i have. But thanks anyway!

Dear Club:

When you say you checked all the options, did you go into Crystal on both Machines and look at the File/Options.

Secondly, are you both running the same report from the same location? In other words, are you sure it's the same file?

The reason that I ask is that it seems *weird* for it to work on one machine and not on another for this particular issue!

What I would do, is run the report on the working machine. Save the report with a new file name and then copy that file to my machine and run it. Do you still get the same results?

Also, double check the regional settings for everything and double check everywhere that options can be set in Crystal.

Hope this helps you,

ro

Hi and thank you for your reply!

Yes we run the same reports from the same drive and use the same stored procedures. But this is a problem with all the reports i try to run. Reports that run smoothely for my colleague.

We have checked both PC's local settings and under 'File - Options' and File - Report Options' in Crystal Reports and didn't find any differences. Is there anywere else you can set options in CR?

We also tried to reinstall Crystal Reports with the same result.

Dear Club,

How do you connect to the report? Native drivers or ODBC? Are you using an exactly configured DSN?

What database platform? I am assuming SQL server - but I could be wrong.

I am reaching here, but I would check that.

The other thing that you try for info - is to do a compare of the Working machines Winnt/Crystal directory and yours.

Maybe there was a disconnect there. When you performed your install, did you perform a complete install?

Also, try writing a new report against the stored procedure, something quick and easy. Do you get the same results for the date?

I am thinking this is machine specific because you are having problems with all the reports.

Oh, one last thing, do you both have the same level of permissions. Have you tried running the report on your machine with the other user's login and password?

I guess what I am trying to say is eliminate all possibilities until we arrive at a conclusion.!

Hi,

Yes, you were right in that there was something specific about the machine. I just logged on to another computer and from there all reports worked fine. We are now sending the old one to service to be totally formated and reistalled, so i will be using the other one untill i get it back.

Thank you very much for your help and effort!
