Hi, Vauxhall7

I'm assuming you have checked the BIOS date and that when you boot the machine to DOS the date is OK. If not then you may have a BIOS problem. Is this a Compaq??

Found the following on Google:

Could be a minor BIOS problem between SERVER.EXE and the system. We still have some Compaq Prosignia servers kicking around. The BIOS recognizes the date as 2000, but when Netware is started it shows the date as unset. We have added the line SET DATE (with no parameters) in the AUTOEXEC.NCF and Netware picks up the correct time from the BIOS. After the AUTOEXEC.NCF is processed, everything runs beautifully. ...

Also found a reference whereby someone found if they set the date via FCONSOLE from a workstation rather than via a SET command on the server console then the date would 'stick'.

Also look for a file called TIMESYNC.CFG on your server and rename it - it may be trying to sync to a time source that is no longer available.

It seems the 1988 date is defaulted to by Novell when a valid date cannot be determined.
