Date Picker Control issues 1

In an Access XP DB, I have an Access form on which I use Date Picker Active X controls. The control's properties lists it as 'MSComCtl2.DTPicker.2'

The Date Picker controls look and work great on every PC I've tried it on *except* for the 3 PC's on which I really need them to work. On those PC's (which have no significant configuration differences), the Date Picker controls show up as blank white rectangles.

I've tried different references, add-ins, registering dll's and ocx's, all to no avail.

Any experts out there who can shoot a clue my way?

If I am not mistaken I believe the control is mscomct2.ocx (no "l&quot. Does this ocx exist on the 3 pcs (do a search/find) and if so, is it registered? To register it open Access, select Tools...ActiveX controls. Press Register and select Type (ocx). Find and select the control and either dbl-click onit or select and press Open. Done. If that doesn't help - post back.

Yeah, I have read other threads/articles/stuff that led me to look at the mscomct2.ocx issue, however, on my PC (where the date picker works perfectly) I do not have this ocx anywhere on the machine. And what's with the "MSComCtl2" (with the "l&quot in the control's properties? There's no "MSComCtl2.ocx" on my PC... I don't get it. On my PC, I *do* have:
mscal.ocx
and
mscomctl.ocx
among others, but in all my experimentation, their presence or registration status does not affect my date picker control. Hence, I am still frustratingly stumped... I knew I should have gone to truck-driving school.
On a related note, via Sys Info, I can see what dll's are registered on my machine, but is there any way to see what ocx's are registered? That might be helpful to my predicament.
The things I go thru to try to make a user happy...

I did a search on my pc as well and mscomct.ocx did not show up - but, if you go to your System32 (or System) folder and go to Tools -- Folder Options and View tab and select ShowHiddenFiles you should see it there. Also see this article for file you should have.

Then, I would recheck you pc setup versus the other pcs that do not work and see if this helps.

That's very interesting... I assumed that because my Windows Explorer view settings are such that no files are ever hidden from view, that the search function would automatically look at all system and hidden files. Wrong! You are right, evalesthy--the mscomct2.ocx *is* in the system32 folder. In the explorer search function, I have to actually specify that it search hidden and system folders/files.

The KB article you reference talks about distributing active-x controls with a run-time application... Don't know if it's applicable to my situation as mine is just a straight DB, but certainly good info to know nonetheless.

Anyway, I'll check my problem PC's for the mscomct2.ocx file, and see if that's my problem. I'll report back later today...

Judge, again, I thank you for your helpful spirit and good intentions, but my question was not one of licensing or the legalities of active-x distribution... Those issues were distractors to my real problem--I simply wanted to make this control work in my db on other PC's.

The simple and straightforward answer/cure is the one posted by evalsthy, for which he has earned my undying gratitude...

Sure enough, by cruel coincidence, the 3 problem PC's did not have the mscomct2.ocx file. Once it was copied into the System32 folder and registered, all my date picker problems were resolved...
