Hi,
I got assignment where the start_date is 12-Mar-1982 which can be showned in sqlplus3.3. When i query using FORM builder. The date changed to 12-MAR-2082
What's the problem?? Y2K bug??? If yes,
pls teach how to change the date to reflect the current year???

thx

The date that SQL 3.3 is displaying is coming from your server. Your server should be y2k compliant by now, but because you are using SQL 3.3, I'm guessing your using Oracle 7.3, older Oracle software. Since you haven't upgraded your version of Oracle, you probably haven't upgraded your network software either. What network software are you running? Novell 3.2?

The server date should be reset at the DOS level. Are you able to maintain the date after you've changed it? If not, check your CMOS battery. Most CMOS batteries have a 5 year life span, and if your server is older then 5 years, it may be time to slip out the old battery and slip in a new one. Otherwise, your motherboard will not be able to maintain the proper date, and your database will be plagued by all manner of date problems.

Your problem goes much deeper then SQL displaying the improper date. Your whole system may need over-hauling from the ground up.

Hi

If you are working with Oracle 8 Database then it assumes that the dates are in the current centuary which looks like your problem. I'm not too sure if this happens in Oracle 7.

I might have the sql for doing pulling the correct date at work.
