Date Field Format

Hi All,

I am creating a table and one field will be month. The reason we are doing this is because the data we get by month and it pertain to the whole month.

Should this field be date field? What would the format type for this field be? Later, I will need to report the data by month and by year.

Should I create two text fields one date and one year...?

Any suggestions?

I would use one date field. The format doesn't make any difference. A date is a date is a date. Using a date field provides functionality with date functions.

When staff entering data in the table, what do they write in the date field? There is no specific date, it is months only

They can enter the first day of the month. You could create any type of interface such as a combo box or whatever and then store the correct date in the table.
