I am receiving new data that I would like to use in my Access dB. The problem is that I can seem to get Access to understand that my first field in my unix flat file is a date. The reason for this is that the date in the unix flat file looks like this:

07072008

Is there any way to make Access see this as a Date/TIme format and not a number? Or a way to convert it in the query will be fine also. TIA!

Hi,

Convert this STRING (it's not really a number) to a Date Value using the DateSerial and Mid functions; MID to parse the Year, Month & Day and assign to the corresponding arguments of DateSerial.

Your receiving meens you are also importing. During the Import Wizard process, click on Advnaced where you could define the Date Order(choose DMY) Date Delimiter(delete the default "/" value and leave it blank) and check the Leading Zeros in Dates
