I have been asked to evaluate ETL tools for a large company (1 billion+ revenue). We already own Warehouse Builder (per our Oracle licenses), but have been evaluating DataStage for the past few months. Has anyone used or evaluated both of these tools? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each? Is OWB really solid enough to be our ETL platform for the next 3-5 years?

Thanks,
Gerry

Contact IBM for DataStage information, and Oracle. They both should have competative advantage type documents.

I would guess most readers of this forum would lean towards DataStage.

Thanks - we are currently engaged with both Oracle and IBM. They both say they can meet our needs, but I wanted to get some outside perspectives from people who might have used both.

Will you be doing straight ETL or will you need more power / functionality? If so, take a look at IBM's DataStage TX. It can do ETL and a lot more. Depends on exectly what you are trying to accomplish now, and what future use the tool could do for you.
