Hi all,

I made a report based on a query that I made with Crystal SQL Designer. Everything works ok on the computer that I used to made the report, but I have problems when I run the report on another computer. Of course, the datasource is wrong. Is it possible to pass the servername from CR to the query?

Thanks!

In the database tab we have an option called "Set Location" in that u can change the file location. I have tried it once and it worked for me.

Hi,

On my machine the database is on the 'W:' drive. On one of my co-workers machine it is on drive 'G:'. We used to have to change the location every time we worked on a report.

In CR10 (not sure what previous versions this would work on) select a datasource as a UNC instead of pointing to a specific drive letter.

(UNC Universal Naming Convention - notation identifies network resources using a server name and share name)

This example points to an Access database:
instead of
W:\Public\Access\mydatabase.mdb
use the network name of the drive
\\HAR303-3\Public\Access\mydatabase.mdb

Now we can work on any report without having to reset the database pointers.
