DataProtector, EML and Fiber....

We have our cell manager (Win 2003 Server) with a fiber adapter connected to a switch. On the switch is a 4 LTO4 drive EML lib. It has 5 fiber connections to the switch. One for each drive and one for the controller. The switch also has the EVA disk array. All filesystems being backed up will be on the EVA.

My problem is, how do I configure DataProtector to do backups over the fiber rather then over the eithernet adapter?

Each Client is know by the DNS name/address... Since the tape drives and controller are not directly attached to the Cell Manager, need documentation on how it should be configured/defiined.

Every box you want to back via fiber instead of network, needs to be a media manager. They need the correct agent installed, the drives configured through DP, and the drives setup in the backup job.

I also would make sure you aren't accessing the EVA and the tape library over the same fiber channels. That's a big no-no with the best practices.

Thanks... I found that you have to create a different backup for each server and select the prefered multi-path for each...
