What are the benefits and problems of using 1 or the other?
Can they be used to perform essentially the same task i.e. Disaster Prevention / recovery.

Which tool is most suitable for what or are they best used together?

Your experiences and comments could be very useful in helping me define & decide a DR Strategy for my organisation, currently in process of implementing RMAN and wondering if Dataguard would be a better option!!

RMAN is a backup / recovery tool

Dataguard is a business continuity tool

RMAN (or similar) should be used on every database regardless of size / importance

Dataguard should only be used where you want some level of high availability / failover

Thanks I think I'm starting to get a handle on it - I'll award you a star for your help though!
