Has anyone noticed that datagrids are really hard to use? If you want to do any customization such as adding a custom control to a column, its a real pain in the butt!

I also don't like to column versus row concept. I have considered writing my own custom control that looks like a datagrid but behaves better. Has anyone come across something like this?

I use the componentone controls. the flexgrid is pretty good.

The ComponentOne grids (I can't remember whether its FlexGrid or TrueDBGrid) include an option for a vertical layout (i.e. column header down the left and rows running across). The Developer Express grid for Delphi also had that feature and was highly and easily customisable and I would guess that the .NET version was similar.

Hope this helps.

I would say ComponentOne's grids are pretty good. Also
