DataEnvironment Recordset Problem

I have a DateEnvironment which populates its native recordset at run time from an Access 97 mdb based on a SQL Query set up in the DE Properties at design time. I need to change the SQL Query, based on user input, and re-populate the DE's recordset to reflect the new SQL Query. Nothing I've tried, based on other threads I've read, has worked. Could someone point me in the right direction, please?
