Hello,

I'm clipper programist, and I want to write my application in Windows.
Im looking for good and easy to learn language to program databases application.

I heard Delphi is easy and powerful in that.

Do you agree with this? Or I rather should look for something else ?

I'll be grateful for your opinion

Well some of the Best Database formats were developed by Borland, who also developed Delphi.
There are some excellent programmers out there who do nothing else with Delphi but write database handlers, you will meet some in this forum no doubt.
Databases arn't my thing, but Delphi is good in most respects not just DB programming, which means you get the best of both worlds, go for it.

Are you already using Delphi or still prospecting? If you are prospecting goto where some case studies are listed.
Delphi is a programming tool with strong database support.

The database can be of any kind, like desktop systems as access, paradox, dbase.
Also support is for the big rdbms's like oracle, sql server, interbase, informix, sybase etc.

Basically what you do is designing the tables, stored procedures, triggers, generators etc, in the native database and with Delphi you build the "windows like" user interface.
The database can run even on a linux or unix machine, but your client will not notice that.

If you are already experimenting take a look at:
were there are some tutorials in delphi database programming

Looking for something else? If you put this question in the Visual basic or VC++ forum, they will claim that VB or VC++ can handle it, but you will be tied down to micro$oft.

If you are still prospecting I suggest you go to (or your favourite bookshop) and have a look at "Mastering Delphi 6" by Marco Cantu.

This is not only one of the finest books on Delphi which I have the great pleasure of owning it will surely answer your question.
