An access database set with a startup form ran with no problems. The user held the shift key while opening the databse to get at the database window when needed. One morning this stopped working. If the start-up option are changed to display the database window, it still does not display. There seems to be no way to get at the tables short of splitting the database. Any ideas on what made this happen and how to get it back?

I had this problem with a user before, and after much head-scratching it turned out they had dragged the database down the screen so you just couldn't see it unless you scrolled right down using both the vertical and horizontal scrollbars of the database window.

Failing that, create an empty database and using 'Get External Data', import all the objects from your database and try again.

Good luck.

Have you spoken with the database designer, or are you the database designer?

It's possible to lock down a database with VB code so that users cannot get to the database window at all. Perhaps this is what happened. If so, your DBA should be able to help you. If not, then Sarah's suggestion may be the cause or if not you can simply export all the objects into a blank database and start over fresh. Maq [americanflag]
