Hi,

I have always called DTS packages through jobs by using the xp_cmdshell. I've always called the DTS with a systems administrator name & password.
execute MASTER..xp_cmdshell 'dtsrun /S<ServerName> /U<User> /P<Password> /N<DTS_Name>
& it's always worked successfully.

Now I need to trigger a DTS package to run at the end of a procedure run by users (without admin rights). & I don't know how to do this. The DTS is required to run as the last step - while the data is fresh!
Is there any other way of triggering a DTS by non system admin users, other than xp_cmdsehll?

1. u can create a procedure (encrypted) with the DTS package execution and with userid and password
and give Executable permission to all the users.

or

2. DTS package can be executed with /E parameter which takes the trusted connection.

You can create a Job to run the DTS package and start the Job with the system stored procedure sp_start_job. See SQL BOL for details. Terry L. Broadbent - DBA
